What is the SYSC Recreational Program?

The Recreation Program is offered to all U9-U19 players who want to start and/or further their development in soccer. The recreational program is designed for new/beginning level players looking to be introduced to soccer. This program is aimed to enhance the enjoyment of the players and to show how fun a soccer ball can be to play with. All instruction at this age is based around the technical development of the player. The program consists of quality and fun training sessions that allow players to enjoy the game.

SYSC is committed to the development of youth at all levels. The program provides training sessions to allow players to further their enjoyment of the game. The curriculum helps the player begin to “master the ball”. Players will become comfortable on the ball and will be encouraged to try new things and be creative. The main focus will be for the player to enjoy the game and to begin developing technical skills. Having fun at training is key, as this will ensure players are developing their love for the game.

Northshore Recreational League

At the U11/U12 level we experience a dramatic drop off in recreational player participation in soccer. This is not just our Club, but this is a nationwide phenomenon. We typically field 2-3 U12 boy’s teams and the same number of girl’s teams.  We are also excited this year to be continuing the development of our U15-U19 co-ed teams   In order to provide games for their older recreational teams, the Clubs of the Northshore have formed a Recreational League. The Clubs participating are Slidell, Pearl River, Mandeville, Madisonville, Abita Springs, South Tangipahoa and Livingston Parish.   Games are still scheduled for Saturdays but through the season, you can expect to travel to these locations for games.

Do we play games?

Yes. Players will have the opportunity to play in games during the weekend at the Spartan Complex on Saturdays normally, but possibly on Sundays if fields are not available on Saturday or in case of rain make-ups.

How long are the training sessions?

Typically the training will last as long as the games are. So if the game is 60 mins in length, the practice will last 60 mins. Recreational teams are assigned two practices a week ranging from 60-90 minutes in length.  Our U15-U19 players will participate with our High School Training program professional trainers for the weekly training sessions and play with their respective teams on the weekends.

When does the program start?

Fall recreation will start end of August and will end mid-November. The Spring season will kick off around the third week of January and will end in the later weeks of March.

Where and when do we practice?

Again, training will take place at either the Spartan or Kingspoint Complex. Time and location will be determined by the commissioners once the training matrix has been completed, and then passed down to the coaches.

Formation of Teams?

U9-U19: Commissioner utilizes a blind draw. Criteria used for forming teams include: appropriate age group, years played, school attending, & gender. The teams are formed equally amongst these criteria and the number of teams in each age bracket depends upon the number of registered players.
